Frequently Asked Questions
DentalJect delivers a quick, targeted spray of cooling gas that numbs oral tissue within 1-2 seconds. It rapidly lowers the temperature at the injection site, temporarily blocking pain and pressure receptors; making injections more comfortable for patients and easier for clinicians. Unlike gels or creams, there’s no messy application and no waiting time.
Yes. DentalJect is drug-free, non-invasive, and safe for patients over the age of 4 years old. It’s ideal for patients who are anxious about needles, sensitive to topical anesthetic ingredients, or simply prefer a more comfortable experience. As with any device, clinicians should follow proper instructions and use caution near damaged tissue or extremely sensitive areas. Consult a pediatric dentist prior to using on patients under four years.
No, DentalJect doesn’t replace injections, it makes them dramatically more comfortable. It’s used just before the injection to numb the mucosa and minimize pain from the needle stick. It’s especially helpful for high-sensitivity areas like the palate.
Each DentalJect canister provides approximately 40 applications. The exact number depends on spray duration and technique, but the system is designed for multiple uses per canister. You'll know it's time to replace the can when it feels light (below 20 grams) or if the spray weakens. NOTE: The canister must remain upright during use.
The numbing effect begins immediately and typically lasts about 3-5 seconds; long enough to initiate the injection comfortably. DentalJect is designed to improve the injection experience, not to replace long-acting anesthetics. Once injection is complete, your local anesthetic takes over as usual.
Yes. Most components are reusable and autoclavable, except for the canister. The applicator and optional syringe connector are fully autoclavable. The canister is disposable and should never be autoclaved. Always follow local sterilization protocols and refer to the Instructions for Use.
